Over a month after national signing day, Georgia is still trying to secure the last piece of its recruiting puzzle in prepairation for next year.
Plant High School tight end Orson Charles will make his decision today between attending Georgia, Tennessee, and Southern California. Charles had dozens of offers, but has narrowed the field to just these three. He is one of the highest rated remaining players in the country.
Most recently, Charles surprised fans by eliminating Florida, Florida State, and Miami from his list. These are the three biggest football schools in his home state. This shows, and Charles confirmed, that distance from his family in Miami will not be a factor in his decision.
What will be a factor is his jersey number. Charles requested that he be saved the number 7. All three remaining schools have obliged, Georgia after the departure of Matt Stafford.
The Bulldogs feel that they have a good chance to get Charles to play in Athens. The tight end mentioned how God was playing a role in how he made his decision. Georgia coach Mark Richt has always made religion a priority in the way he coaches players. This set of priorities also further shows that Charles is a grounded individual who will stay out of trouble.
Not only that, the Plant High School quarterback that played with Charles is Georgia commit Aaron Murray. Despite that, Charles has continually maintained that he has no preference between any of the schools and faces a difficult decision.
With the departure of senior starting tight end Tripp Chandler, the Bulldogs could use the talents of another tight end. Charles would join fellow incoming freshman Arthur Lynch to compete with junior Bruce Figgins and redshirt sophomore Aron White for playing time.

Sure enough, Orson Charles will be a Bulldog next year. This is a successful finish to another great recruiting class by the Georgia coaching staff. Keep an eye out for #7 when football season starts up again this fall.
